Schonried is on the MOB line between Zweisimmen and Gstaad, about 5 minutes from Gstaad by train. The station sits at 1,230 metres in the Saanenland valley.

MOB regional trains on the Zweisimmen-Montreux Golden Pass line serve Schonried. The station is between Saanemoser and Gstaad. Some GoldenPass panoramic services also stop here.

Schonried station is a small halt with basic facilities. The village has a few hotels and restaurants. Gstaad with its full services is just one stop away.

Schonried is a quieter satellite of Gstaad with access to the same ski areas. The Rellerli cable car provides access to winter skiing and summer hiking. The village retains a traditional Saanenland character with wooden chalets and mountain views.

Schonried offers the same mountain access as Gstaad but with a quieter, more village-like atmosphere and generally lower prices. The Rellerli area above the village is popular with families. Being on the same MOB rail line, Gstaad's restaurants and shops are just minutes away by train.
