Stansstad is a station in the canton of Nidwalden in central Switzerland, situated at the norte do tip of Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) at the foot of the Bürgenstock peninsula. É atendemd by S-Bahn Luzern S5 trains conectaming Stansstad with Luzern and Hergiswil, and is also the embarkation point for Lake Lucerne boat services. The CabriO is the world's first open-top double-decker cable car, ascending the Stanserhorn from Stans. Passengers can stand on the open upper deck with 360-degree views of the Alps and ten lakes. The lower section uses a restored 1893 funicular, making it a journey through cable car history.
