🇨🇭 Eglisau

Eglisau station is about a 5-minute walk from the old town on the Rhine. Walk downhill to the river to see the famous painted facades of the riverside houses.

SBB S-Bahn line S9 connects Eglisau to Zurich in about 30 minutes and to Schaffhausen in about 25 minutes. The station is on the Zurich-Schaffhausen line along the Rhine.

Eglisau station has limited facilities. The small station serves the commuter traffic to Zurich. The town is compact enough to explore in about an hour.

Eglisau's old town has a row of colourfully painted houses along the Rhine that is one of the most photographed scenes in the Zurich region. The stone bridge and the reformed church above the town complete the picturesque setting. Rhine swimming is popular in summer.
