Liège-Guillemins is one of the most celebrated works of railway architecture in the world, a sweeping steel and glass structure designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and opened in 2009, replacing the city's former 19th-century terminus. The station serves as the main hub for the Walloon city of Liège, with Thalys and Intercity high-speed services to Brussels, Amsterdam, Cologne, and Paris, as well as SNCB domestic intercity trains and regional connections across the province of Liège. Calatrava's soaring white arches and transparent roof have transformed the station into a tourist attraction in its own right, drawing architectural visitors from across Europe.

Liège-Guillemins station is about a 20-minute walk from the city centre along the river Meuse. Buses and taxis are available from the station forecourt, and the striking Santiago Calatrava-designed station building itself is considered one of Europe's finest pieces of railway architecture.
