Liège-Guillemins is one of the most celebrated works of railway architecture in the world, a sweeping steel and glass structure designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and opened in 2009, replacing the city's former 19th-century terminus. The station serves as the main hub for the Walloon city of Liège, with Thalys and Intercity high-speed services to Brussels, Amsterdam, Cologne, and Paris, as well as SNCB domestic intercity trains and regional connections across the province of Liège.
