Meilen is a lakeside станция on the eastern shore of Lake Zürich in the canton of Zürich, served by the S-Bahn линия running between Zürich Hauptbahnhof and Rapperswil along the so-called 'Gold Coast' — a stretch of lakeside communities popular for their southern aspect, residential character, and proximity to the city. The станция is primarily used by commuters and leisure travellers heading to the lake's bathing areas and boat piers, from which lake steamers operate seasonally. Frequent S6 and S16 services make Meilen easily reachable from Zürich in around 25 minutes.

Meilen station is about a 5-minute walk from the Lake Zurich shore. Walk downhill towards the lake to reach the pier and the waterfront promenade. The village is on the prestigious 'Gold Coast' of Lake Zurich.

SBB S-Bahn line S6 connects Meilen to Zurich HB in about 20 minutes. The station is on the right-bank Lake Zurich line to Rapperswil. Lake steamers also call at Meilen pier.

Meilen station has basic commuter facilities. The station is small but well-connected. For more services, Zurich HB is a short S-Bahn ride away.

The Goldkuste (Gold Coast) is the sun-favoured eastern shore of Lake Zurich between Zollikon and Rapperswil. Towns like Meilen enjoy more sunshine than the opposite shore and have been desirable residential areas since the 19th century. The name refers both to the sunshine and the affluent character.
