Troyes станция is the main rail gateway to the historic capital of the Aube department, a city famous for its extraordinarily well-preserved medieval timber-framed centre, its outstanding collection of Gothic stained-glass churches, and its centuries-old role in the textile and knitwear industry. It is served by Intercités and TER trains from Paris-Est and on routes towards Chaumont, Dijon, and Auxerre, making it a moderately well-connected provincial city though not on a высокоскоростной TGV линия. Outlet shopping villages on the outskirts of Troyes — reflecting the city's textile heritage — draw significant visitor numbers, many of whom arrive by rail from Paris.

Troyes station is about a 10-minute walk west of the old town. Follow the Boulevard du 14 Juillet eastward to reach the champagne-cork-shaped medieval centre. The compact old town is entirely walkable once you arrive.

TER Grand Est regional trains connect Troyes to Paris Est in about 90 minutes, with several departures daily. Regional services also run to Dijon, Mulhouse, and smaller Champagne towns. There is no TGV service to Troyes.

Luggage storage options at Troyes are limited. The station has a ticket office and basic waiting facilities. For day visitors, some shops near the station may offer informal storage services.

Troyes has one of France's finest collections of half-timbered medieval houses, with the old town shaped like a champagne cork. The Gothic cathedral and the Church of Sainte-Madeleine with its remarkable rood screen are architectural highlights. Troyes is also famous for its factory outlet shopping.

Troyes was the historic capital of Champagne and a major centre of medieval trade fairs. The city gave its name to the troy weight system still used for precious metals. Its stained glass heritage spans from the 13th to 16th centuries, with over 9,000 square metres of historic glass surviving.
