Andermatt station is a high-altitude railway hub in the canton of Uri at the crossroads of the Gotthard, Oberalp, and Furka alpine routes, sitting at around 1,440 metres above sea level in the heart of the Swiss Alps. It is the main station on the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn network and a junction where travellers can board the famous Glacier Express toward Zermatt or the Furka Cogwheel Steam Railway to Realp, making it a unique starting point for scenic mountain rail journeys in every direction. The journey from Zurich HB to Andermatt takes roughly two hours by train, travelling via Arth-Goldau or Göschenen with a change onto the narrow-gauge Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn. Direct PostBus connections also link Andermatt to Flüelen on Lake Uri during the summer months.
