Zermatt is car-free and reachable only by the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn from Visp or Brig, where you connect from mainline SBB trains. The scenic journey from Visp takes about 65 minutes, climbing through the Matter Valley. The Glacier Express from St. Moritz also terminates here.

Luggage lockers are available at Zermatt station. The station also has a ticket office, a small shop, and tourist information. Since Zermatt is car-free, electric taxis and hotel shuttles meet arriving trains.

The Glacier Express departs from Zermatt station on its famous 8-hour panoramic journey to St. Moritz, crossing 291 bridges and passing through 91 tunnels. Seat reservations are mandatory. The train runs year-round but with reduced frequency in winter.
