Über Flüelen

Flüelen station stands at the southern end of Lake Uri in the canton of Uri, serving as the lakeside rail head where trains join or leave the approach to the Gotthard route — one of Schweiz's most historischally and scenically significant Bahnkorridore. The journey along the lake shore from here towards Erstfeld and Göschenen passes through some of the most dramatic Alpine scenery in central Schweiz, with the famous Gotthard spiral tunnels ascending the mountain wall above Erstfeld. Passenger numbers are modest but the station serves ein wichtiger role as the gateway to the Uri lakeland region and the Tell Chapel on the opposite shore.
