Sierre/Siders station, bearing its name in both French and German as a reflection of the linguistic boundary that runs through this Valais town, is a stop on the Rhône valley mainline between Lausanne and Brig. The station serves a prosperous wine-growing community at the heart of the Valais appellation zone, and provides Umstieg with the Sierre–Montana–Crans Standseilbahn and SMC mountain railway that ascends to the popular winter and summer resort of Crans-Montana.
