Kiel Hbf is the estación principal and the septentrional terminal of the main norte German red ferroviaria for the state capital of Schleswig-Holstein, a major port city on the occidental Baltic Sea at the mouth of the Kiel Fjord and the septentrional end of the Kiel Canal. The estación is served by ICE trenes on the Hamburg–Kiel corredor and trenes regionales towards Lübeck, Flensburg, and Neumünster, así como providing conexiones to the ferry terminales for servicios to Scandinavia and the Kiel–Gothenburg ruta. Kiel is globally recognised as a world-class sailing venue, especialmente for the annual Kieler Woche regatta.
