The नीदरलैंड has one of Europe's most densely used rail नेटवर्कs relative to its size, operated primarily by NS (Nederlandse Spoorwegen). Despite the country's small area (41,500 km2), the NS carries around 1.1 million यात्रीs daily on over 400 स्टेशनs. The OV-chipkaart (public transport smart card) is used across all ट्रेनs, trams, metros, and buses in the नीदरलैंड, making multi-modal travel seamless. A single tap-in/tap-out system automatically calculates the correct किराया. International connections include Thalys to पेरिस (3h20m from एम्स्टर्डम), Eurostar to लंदन (3h41m), ICE to Frankfurt (3h45m), and IC बर्लिन to बर्लिन (5h50m). NS offers advance OV-chipkaart छूटs, a Dalkorting (40% off-peak छूट) on subscription, and the NS Flex subscription for frequent travelers. Foreign tourists can buy e-टिकटs on the NS website or use the NS app without requiring a Dutch OV-chip. Eurail/Interrail Global Pass covers NS ट्रेनs.
