Cham station is centrally located, a short walk from the old town and the shore of Lake Zug. Walk east towards the lake for the waterfront promenade and swimming areas.

SBB S-Bahn trains connect Cham to Zurich in about 25 minutes and to Zug in about 5 minutes. The station is on the Zurich-Zug-Lucerne line, one of Switzerland's busiest S-Bahn corridors.

Cham station has luggage lockers and commuter facilities. The station has been modernised with barrier-free access. The lakeside is a short walk away.

Cham sits on the northern shore of Lake Zug, offering lakeside walks and swimming. The Villette Park on the lakeshore is a popular recreation area. The town has a historic centre with the Hirsgarten manor and views across the lake to the Rigi and Pilatus mountains.

Lake Zug (Zugersee) is a small alpine lake between Zurich and Lucerne. At 14 kilometres long, it offers warm swimming in summer and sunset views of the Alps. Cham on the northern shore has direct rail access and a pleasant waterfront, less crowded than the more famous Lake Zurich.
