Sursee is the main station of the central town of Sursee in the canton of Lucerne, situated on the SBB main line between Olten and Lucerne that links the Swiss Mittelland plateau with the cantonal capital. The station is served by InterRegio and S-Bahn services, giving Sursee a regular connection to Lucerne in around twenty minutes and to Basel and Zurich via Olten with a single change. The town is a regional market centre for the Sursee district and the gateway to the Sempachersee lake, site of the famous 1386 Battle of Sempach, whose battlefield memorial is accessible by PostBus from the station.

SBB InterRegio trains between Basel and Luzern stop at Sursee, along with regional trains on the Olten–Luzern line. S-Bahn line S8 also serves Sursee, providing a half-hourly connection towards Luzern and hourly northwards to Olten and Aarau.
