Thiers is a станция serving the historic town of Thiers in the Puy-de-Dôme department of the Auvergne region in central France, a town long renowned as the cutlery capital of France. TER regional services connect Thiers along the Ambert линия running between Clermont-Ferrand and Ambert, providing access to the volcanic Livradois foothills east of the Auvergne capital. Thiers has produced knives and cutlery since the 14th century, using the fast-flowing Durolle river to power grinding wheels. Today it still produces about 70% of France's knives, from Laguiole pocket knives to professional kitchen blades. The Vallee des Rouets preserves the historic workshops.
