Cannes station is the main railway stop for the glamorous Riviera resort city famous for its international film festival, its boutique-lined La Croisette boulevard, and its sandy beaches backed by grand Belle Époque hotels. The station is served by TER regional trains running frequently along the Côte d'Azur coast between Marseille and Ventimiglia, as well as Intercités services from Paris, making it one of the more accessible luxury resort destinations in Europe for rail travellers. The station is located a short walk from the Palais des Festivals and the old port, and the view of the Lerins Islands offshore makes arrival by train a scenic as well as practical experience.

Cannes station is a five-minute walk from the Croisette promenade and the Palais des Festivals, making it one of the most conveniently located stations on the Côte d'Azur. Turn left out of the main exit and head down the Rue des Serbes to reach the seafront.

Luggage lockers (consigne) are available at Cannes station, located near the main entrance hall. During the Film Festival and other major events, demand can be very high, so arriving early or pre-booking alternative storage in the town is advisable.

SNCF TER regional trains run frequently along the coast between Marseille, Nice, and Ventimiglia, stopping at Cannes. TGV services also call at Cannes on some workings from Paris, providing a direct connection of around five hours and thirty minutes.

The ferries to the Iles de Lérins, including the Île Sainte-Honorat and Île Saint-Marguerite (where the Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned), depart from the Vieux Port, a ten-minute walk from the station. Crossing times are around fifteen minutes, and boats run throughout the day in season.

Hotel and restaurant prices in Cannes are notably higher during the Film Festival in May and the Lions advertising festival in June, so visiting outside these periods offers much better value. The Marché Forville covered market, open every morning except Monday, is an excellent introduction to Provençal produce and atmosphere.
