Château-du-Loir is a small station in the Sarthe department of the Pays de la Loire region, situated in the gentle valley of the Loir river between Le Mans and Tours on the regional rail network. It is served by TER trains on the Le Mans–Tours corridor and acts as the local rail access point for this quiet market town surrounded by vineyards producing the Jasnières and Coteaux-du-Loir appellations. The station is modest in scale and primarily serves local residents and wine tourists exploring one of France's lesser-known but rewarding rural wine regions.

Chateau-du-Loir station is about a 10-minute walk from the town centre. Walk towards the Loir river to reach the old town with its market square and the remains of the medieval castle.
TER Pays de la Loire trains connect Chateau-du-Loir to Tours in about 30 minutes and to Le Mans in about 40 minutes. The station is on the Tours-Le Mans regional line through the Loir valley.
Luggage storage at the station is limited. The station has a ticket office and basic facilities. The town is small and walkable.
The town sits on the Loir river (not to be confused with the Loire), with medieval remains and a pleasant old quarter. The surrounding area is wine country producing Jasnieres, one of the Loire valley's most distinctive white wines. Troglodyte dwellings carved into the river cliffs are nearby.
The Loir (masculine, without the 'e') is a tributary of the larger Loire (feminine). Chateau-du-Loir sits on the smaller river, which flows through a quieter, less-touristed valley. The Loir valley has its own chateaux, troglodyte villages, and the excellent Jasnieres wine appellation.
