Figeac is a station serving the medieval market town of Figeac in the Lot department of the Occitanie region in south-western France, birthplace of the Egyptologist Jean-François Champollion. TER regional services connect Figeac along the Brive–Rodez and Figeac–Capdenac lines, making it a modest rail junction for the remote Lot valley area between the Massif Central foothills and the Quercy causse plateaux. Figeac station is about a 10-minute walk from the medieval old town. Walk south towards the Place Champollion and the half-timbered houses of the historic centre along the Cele river.

TER Occitanie regional trains connect Figeac to Toulouse and Rodez. Intercites services pass through on the Clermont-Ferrand to Toulouse line. The station sits at a junction of two regional lines.

Luggage storage at Figeac is limited. The station has a ticket office and basic facilities. The compact medieval town is easily explored on foot.

Figeac is the birthplace of Jean-Francois Champollion, who deciphered Egyptian hieroglyphs using the Rosetta Stone. The Place des Ecritures features a giant reproduction of the Rosetta Stone. The medieval old town has fine sandstone houses with soleilhos (open-air drying lofts).

Champollion, born in Figeac in 1790, deciphered the Rosetta Stone in 1822, unlocking the secrets of Egyptian hieroglyphs. His birthplace is now a museum, and the Place des Ecritures has a courtyard-sized replica of the Rosetta Stone carved in black granite by artist Joseph Kosuth.
