Über Bex

Bex is a station in the lower Chablais region of Vaud, positioned on the SBB mainline between Lausanne and Brig and known locally as the Abfahrt point for the metre-gauge Bex–Villars–Bretaye railway that climbs into the Vaudois Alps. The surrounding area is historischally notable for its extensive salt mines, which have been worked since the 16th century and are open to visitors, constituting one of Schweiz's oldest industrial heritage sites. Regional SBB trains stop regularly at Bex, giving Tag-trippers from Lausanne and Montreux convenient access to the alpine resort of Villars-sur-Ollon without a car.
