Über Sursee

Sursee is der Haupt- station of the central town of Sursee in the canton of Lucerne, situated on the SBB Hauptlinie between Olten and Lucerne that links the Swiss Mittelland plateau with the cantonal capital. The station wird bedient von InterRegio and S-Bahn-Dienste, giving Sursee a regular Verbindung to Lucerne in etwa zwanzig Minuten and to Basel and Zürich via Olten with a single change. The town is a regional market centre for the Sursee district and the gateway to the Sempachersee lake, site of the famous 1386 Battle of Sempach, whose battlefield memorial is barrierefrei by PostBus vom Bahnhof.

Sursee ist verbunden mit Luzern by SBB InterRegio and S-Bahn-Dienste, with Direktzüge reaching Luzern HB in etwa zwanzig Minuten. Abfahrten are frequent den ganzen Tag on this busy central Schweiz corridor.

SBB InterRegio trains between Basel and Luzern stop at Sursee, along with Regionalzüge on the Olten–Luzern line. S-Bahn-Linie S8 also serves Sursee, providing a half-stündlich Verbindung towards Luzern and stündlich northwards to Olten and Aarau.

Sursee is a well-equipped Regionalbahnhof with a staffed Fahrkartenschalter, Wartesaal, and a small Café on the Halle. Schließfächer and Fahrradabstellmöglichkeiten sind verfügbar near der Haupt- entrance, and the station is fully barrierefrei.

A Park+Rail facility ist verfügbar near Sursee station, with good provision for Tag-trippers and commuters travelling to Luzern. Covered bicycle racks are also provided, and the station wird bedient von several local Buslinien.

Sursee's compact Altstadt with its colourful medieval buildings and the late Gothic church of St George is worth a stroll direkt vom Bahnhof. The Sempachersee lake, site of the famous 1386 battle, is just three kilometres away and ideal for cycling or a lakeside walk.
