St-Maurice is a station in the canton of Valais at the dramatic narrowing of the Rhône valley, where a gorge has made the site strategically important since antiquity and where a historisch bridge and fortifications mark the passage between cantons Valais and Vaud. It lies on der Haupt- SBB line from Genf and Lausanne towards Brig and the Simplon tunnel, and wird bedient von Intercity-Züge sowie Regionaldienste verbindend the Chablais region with the rest of French-speaking Schweiz.
