Graz Hauptbahnhof is about a 15-minute walk from the Hauptplatz in the historic centre, or a five-minute tram ride on lines 3, 6, or 7. The Schlossberg hilltop fortress with its clock tower is a further ten-minute walk through the picturesque lanes of the Altstadt.

Railjet and IC services connect Graz to Vienna Hauptbahnhof in under three hours, and to Salzburg, Klagenfurt, and Villach. International trains also reach Ljubljana and Zagreb, making Graz an important gateway between Austria and the western Balkans.

The station features an ÖBB Reisezentrum, luggage lockers, a supermarket, and several cafés and restaurants open throughout the day. A taxi rank and dedicated bus stops are located at both the main and rear exits.

Self-service luggage lockers are available at Graz Hauptbahnhof and are conveniently located near the main platform access. A staffed deposito bagagli counter handles oversized luggage during extended hours.

Graz is Austria's second-largest city and has a vibrant culinary scene — the Farmers' Market at Kaiser-Josef-Platz, ten minutes from the station by tram, is the best place to find local Styrian pumpkin oil, wine, and cheese. The city is also highly walkable and UNESCO-listed for its historic centre.
