🇦🇹 Salzburg Hbf

Salzburg Hauptbahnhof is north of the river, with bus lines 1, 3, 5, 6, and 25 linking it to Mirabellplatz and the old town in around ten minutes. The Trolleybus 1 is the most direct route and runs every five minutes during the day.

Railjet and EuroCity services connect Salzburg to Vienna, Munich, Zurich, and Venice. Nightjet sleeper trains to Rome, Hamburg, and Amsterdam also depart from here, making Salzburg a well-connected overnight travel hub.

The station has an ÖBB Reisezentrum, a large shopping area with a supermarket, pharmacies, and restaurants, plus luggage lockers on the lower level. The station underwent a full modernisation and is fully step-free with lifts to all platforms.

Multiple banks of self-service luggage lockers are available at Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, convenient for visitors who wish to explore the old town unencumbered before checking in to their accommodation. A staffed left-luggage counter is also available during extended hours.

Regional trains reach Hallstatt (change at Attnang-Puchheim or Bad Ischl) in around 90 minutes and Berchtesgaden in about an hour. The Salzburg Surrounding Lakes — Wolfgangsee, Mondsee, and Fuschlsee — are accessible by bus or seasonal lake steamer connections from central Salzburg.
