About Locarno

Locarno station is the southern terminus of the Centovalli Railway, which winds through a hundred valleys to reach Domodossola in Italy, as well as the western end of the Lugano–Locarno corridor served by PostBus and regional connections. The station also marks the lakeside starting point of the FART (Ferrovie Autolinee Regionali Ticinesi) network, and the Piazza Grande — famous for hosting one of Europe's great open-air film festivals — is just minutes from the station. Travellers arriving here are greeted by a mild Mediterranean-influenced climate, palm trees along the lakefront, and boat services on Lake Maggiore.
