Über Leipzig Hbf

Leipzig Hbf is one of Europe's most remarkable Bahnhofs, a vast terminus completed in 1915 whose monumental Beaux-Arts façade extends 300 metres along the Willy-Brandt-Platz and whose underground City Tunnel, opened in 2013, transformed it from ein Kopfbahnhof into a Durchgangsbahnhof linking the northern and southern Eisenbahnnetze. It serves as der primäre hub for ICE-Dienste on the Berlin–München and Hannover–Dresden corridors, sowie Regionalzüge throughout Sachsen and Sachsen-Anhalt and the S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland Netz verbindend Leipzig with Halle and Magdeburg. With its extraordinary size, lavish interiors, and impressive two-level commercial Halle below the original Bahnsteige, Leipzig Hbf is considered one of the greatest railway buildings in the world.
