Alpnachstad is a station on the shores of Lake Lucerne in the canton of Obwalden, Switzerland. It is served by SBB regional trains and is the valley station of the Pilatus Railway, the world's steepest rack railway. Travellers transfer here for the dramatic cogwheel ascent to the summit of Mount Pilatus at 2,132 metres.

The Golden Round Trip is a popular circular excursion combining a boat from Lucerne to Alpnachstad, the cogwheel railway up to Pilatus, a gondola and cable car down to Kriens, and a bus back to Lucerne. Alpnachstad is the starting point for the ascent portion of this iconic day trip.
