Samedan station is a junction point in the Upper Engadine valley of Graubünden, operated by the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) at an altitude of around 1,705 metres above sea level. It lies on the main Albula line connecting Chur with St. Moritz and is the branch point for the Bernina line towards Pontresina and Tirano in Italy, making it one of the most important junctions on the UNESCO-listed Rhaetian Railway network. The village is known for its regional airport and its role as a quieter alternative base to the glitzy resort of St. Moritz just a few minutes away by train.

Regular Rhaetian Railway (RhB) trains connect Samedan to St Moritz in about eight minutes. The two stations are only a few kilometres apart in the Upper Engadine valley, and bus services also cover the route.
Samedan is served by the Rhaetian Railway on the Albula and Bernina lines, making it a junction station for trains from Chur, St Moritz, and the Pontresina branch. The UNESCO-listed Albula Railway passes through here on its scenic route from Chur.
The station has a ticket counter, automated machines, and a café. Bicycle rental is available for exploring the flat Engadine valley, and the station is fully accessible with lifts to all platforms.
Luggage lockers are available at Samedan station, which is useful for visitors planning a day of skiing or hiking before catching an onward train. Larger items can also be registered through RhB's baggage forwarding service.
Samedan has one of the highest-altitude airports in Europe, and the village itself has a quieter, more authentic feel than nearby St Moritz. The Engadine Museum in St Moritz is only a short train ride away and gives excellent context for the region's culture and history.
