About Chateau-d’Oex

Château-d'Oex station lies in the canton of Vaud in the Pays-d'Enhaut region, on the narrow-gauge Montreux–Berner Oberland-Bahn (MOB) scenic mountain railway that winds through the Pre-Alps between Montreux on Lake Geneva and Zweisimmen in the Bernese Oberland. The village is internationally known as a centre of hot-air ballooning, hosting a prestigious annual international balloon festival each January, and its traditional chalets and mountain scenery have long made it a quiet alternative to the more fashionable resorts nearby. The Golden Pass Panoramic Express, which links Montreux with Interlaken Ost via a change at Zweisimmen, passes through Château-d'Oex, offering visitors one of the finest scenic rail journeys in Switzerland.
