About Würzburg Hbf

Würzburg Hauptbahnhof is the central station of this Franconian city on the River Main, positioned at an important junction of two of Germany's key high-speed rail corridors: the Hannover–Würzburg Neubaustrecke and the Frankfurt–Würzburg main line. ICE trains stop here frequently on routes connecting Frankfurt, Nuremberg, and Munich, giving the city excellent intercity connections in under two hours to all three centres. The station also serves as the hub for regional S-Bahn and Mainfranken services into the surrounding wine-growing countryside and the Tauber valley.

Frequently Asked Questions

Würzburg Hauptbahnhof is about a ten-minute walk from the baroque Residence, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Trams and buses depart from the station forecourt to the Marktplatz and Old Main Bridge, giving direct access to the historic core.
Würzburg is on the Frankfurt–Nuremberg high-speed corridor, so ICE trains reach Frankfurt in under an hour and Nuremberg in around 50 minutes. It is also a major interchange for RE services into the Tauber and Franconian wine country.
The station has a DB Reisezentrum for ticket purchases and reservations, luggage lockers, a supermarket, and several cafés and bakeries. A covered bicycle parking area and a taxi rank are directly outside the main entrance.
Coin-operated lockers are available inside the station near the main concourse, suitable for day trips into the Franconian wine region. Larger items can also be stored at the DB Gepäck counter during staffed hours.
The Romantic Road route begins in Würzburg, and coaches depart from near the station to medieval towns such as Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Regional trains also reach the Franconian wine villages of Iphofen and Kitzingen in under 30 minutes.
