Graz Hauptbahnhof is etwa a fünfzehn GehMinuten from the Hauptplatz in the historisches Zentrum, or a five-Minute tram ride on lines 3, 6, or 7. The Schlossberg hilltop fortress with its clock tower is a further ten-GehMinute through the picturesque lanes of the Altstadt.

Railjet and IC-Dienste connect Graz to Wien Hauptbahnhof in under drei Stunden, and to Salzburg, Klagenfurt, and Villach. internationale Züge also reach Ljubljana and Zagreb, making Graz ein wichtiger gateway between Österreich and the western Balkans.
